Accenture Plc, stylized as Accenture, is an Irish-domiciled multinational professional services company that provides services in strategy, consulting, digital, technology and operations. A Fortune Global 500 company, it has been incorporated in Dublin, Ireland since September 1, 2009.

Accenture is in the professional services sector offering services in strategy, consulting, digital, technology and operations across 20 industries such as automotive, banking, capital markets, communication and media, consumer goods and services, etc.

Climate change is increasingly affecting living and working conditions around the world, making this the decade to deliver on meaningful climate action.

As a way to address this imminent issue, Accenture has pledged to do its part to keep global warming below 1.5° by joining the more than 300 companies that have signed the UN Global Compact’s Business Ambition for 1.5° Pledge.

  • Accenture has committed more than US$200 million over three years to help equip people around the world with job skills for the digital age. 

Closing employment gaps

  • Along with its strategic partners, Accenture has equipped more than 2.8 million people with the skills to get a job or build a business through Skills to Succeed. 

Helping youth envision careers

  • Together with Save the Children, a Skills to Succeed partner, Accenture has developed and are testing BecaXR (an augmented and virtual reality tool that helps students and out-of-school youth in Vietnam visualize potential career paths). 

Improving senior citizens’ lives

  • Accenture’s virtual homecare program, piloted in the United Kingdom, uses artificial intelligence (AI) to help older people manage their well-being.   • In fiscal 2019, Accenture continued to measure the impact of their services with clients, resulting in approximately 157,000 metric tons of realized CO2 savings, and implemented strategies to help them save an additional 491,000 metric tons of CO2.

  • In 2019, 77% of their suppliers disclosed their targets, and 82% disclosed the actions and initiatives they are taking toward emissions reduction (up from 74% and 80% respectively in 2018).

Supplier Inclusion & Diversity

  • By the end of fiscal 2019, Accenture had graduated 165 suppliers, including nine in Canada and 12 in the United States.

Ethics Training

  • In fiscal 2019, they maintained employee completion rates of more than 99% for their Ethics & Compliance training (up from 98% in fiscal 2018).

Accenture does not have certifications for all its locations, otherwise, the company has clear objectives, clear progress and many awards.

However, the reason it has been given a C rating despite the certificates, listings and sustainability actions and initiatives it takes, is because it offers consultancy services in the oil and gas industry under exploration and production and refining, thus playing an indirect role and acting as a facilitator in the oil and gas industry.

Analyst Outlook: Neutral

Accenture has clear sustainability goals and alignment with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Despite this, their partnerships with the oil and gas industry proved to have an adverse effect on their initiatives.
