LEAF Certification provides environmentally conscious knowledge, sustainable tools, and in-person support that ensures the success of each business they work with.
LEAF Certification offers accreditation to restaurants demonstrating efforts in environmental and sustainable foodservice practices. Each restaurant must undergo an on-site review by a LEAF Accredited Consultant and meet minimum requirements in ten key areas of sustainability including energy use, food purchasing and menu items, supplies, building and location, furnishing and decorative items, chemicals, waste and recycling, employees, policy and innovation, and water use.
The certification was created by LEAF, who helps reduce environmental impact by targeting energy, water, and waste reduction. They promote community partnerships and farm-to-table concepts, while also increasing awareness and support of green restaurants across Canada.
