Help more patients get the care they need by providing accessible rides.”
Company Sustainable Activity
In 2020, Lyft have been one of the world’s largest voluntary purchasers of carbon offsets. According to the company “ We are focusing heavily on reducing through a transition to a fully electrified fleet. In addition, we have committed to purchase enough renewable energy to cover electricity consumption of every Lyft’s office, driver Hub and electric vehicle mile on our platform.” Lyft suggest that “ We estimate that riders have shed almost a half million vehicles because of availability of Lyft and other ride sharing services. Also we estimate that if Lyft and other ride sharing services did not exist our riders would have purchased over 1,5 million more vehicles”.
Washington Regional Alcohol Program (WRAP)
According to NHSPA, in 2019 10,511 people killed nationwide in drunk driving crashes, accounting for nearly one third of the yearly driving fatalities. Since 1991, WRAP has helped people celebrate safely by dispatching over 80,000 rides home for DC area residents through its popular SoberRide Program. The goal of the Sober Ride is to discourage the drunk driving to keep local roads safe from impaired drivers by providing safe and alternative to driving home around certain holidays. In 2017, WRAP and Lyft have partnered. For the first time of the program free rides were provided through Lyft’s platform.
USC, AARP & UnitedHealthCare
According to Lyft “Every year, an estimated 3,6 million Americans miss medical appointments because of lack transportation to or from the doctors’ office. Missed appointments are estimated to cost a staggering $ 150 billion a year. In response to these challenges, in 2017 Lyft partnered with the USC Center for Body Computing, AARP and UnitedHealthCare to study the role of rideshare in improving access to care and reducing social isolation for seniors. Researchers provided free, unlimited Lyft rides to 150 older adults with chronic diseases living in and around Los Angeles County. Participants received personalized training on how to use the app, while those without smartphones access could use a call-in service.”
Sustainable Development Goals
How company covers SDGs
